Write a list of the 5 most important mitzvot in Judaism. Does living in Israel make the list? If yes, explain why. If not, how far down on the list should it be and why?
You do not have to use the mitzvot below, but here are some ideas and options you may use:
- Kibbu Av Va’em/Honoring your parents
- Kashrut/Kosher
- Pesach
- Tzniut/Tzizit/Kippah
- Shabbat
- Tefillah
- Tzedakah
- Learning Torah
- Circumcision/Brit Milah
- Marrying Jewish
- Living in Israel
- Belief in Gd
- Gemillut Chassadim/Chessed
- Visiting the Sick
- Yom Kippur
1. Belief in G-D / Following what the torah says. (which includes Living in Israel.)
ReplyDelete2. Honoring your parents.
3. Kashrut.
4. Marrying Jewish.
5. Tzedakah/ Chesed.
I believe that Israel should be one of the top choices on the list for many reasons, 1. Hashem gave of this holy and great land so we should live in the Jewish land. Living in a Jewish land can really change your whole perspective on Judaism because the most assimilated Jew in America may not no anything about Judaism but the most assimilated Jew in Israel most likely knows what the most important things about judaism are. All in all, I think Israel should be on the top because it is such a great mitzvah and Hashem gave us this land and it is just a great land to live in!
1. Following the torah
ReplyDelete2. Davening and learning torah
3. Tzedakah
4. Keeping kosher
5. Moving to Israel\ aliyah
I think living in Israel is important, but there are more important things that aliayh like following gods commandments. That is why I put it farther down the list because while aliyh is important there are other things in judism that should come first. If you were to move to Israel I think it would change how you would view jewish life, because once your in Israel you feel at home there, and we have to thank god for giving us this great land. - Amy Dyckman
1) visiting the sick
ReplyDelete2) tzidakah
3) Shabbat
4) belief in g-d
5) moving to Israel is a mizvot and really big one because your helping our nation by taking back our home. You show pride to our nation, and it's a wonderful place to live. This mitzvah should be on top because it's probably one of the biggest mizvot you could do. But it shouldn't be something you are obligated to do. Its something that should feel right for you.

3. Marrying Jewish
4. Belief in Gd
5. Living in Israel
I think living in Israel makes the list because hashem gave us the land of Israel and we should be appreciate of what he gave us. Hashem gave this land to Abraham and then he passed it down to his generation and now it came to us. Living in Israel makes people happy because he wants us to believe in him in his home and he should follow what our father says. Israel makes a difference if you move because its holy, special, and you feel that you are watched over us and that he will protect us from the bads. Even though you don't want to live in Israel, you know someday that you will end up there and you will be happy.

ReplyDelete2.respecting your parents
3.following the Torah
4.keeping Shabbat
5.keeping kosher
I do not think that living in Israel is the most important. In my opinion keeping the Torah has much more significance than living in Israel. You cannot just ask someone to pick up and leave no matter the place. I never even been there so making Aliyah does not seem ideal to me. There are so many people who have not been. G-d did give us Israel and that is important to remember although we cannot just be expected to leave our homes to live there. I do want to go and see everything although i do not think living there is important at the moment. When Machiach comes it will be different because we will all go there together as one nation. right now we are so dispersed that all of us living there does not make sense. Not everybody wants that life.
1. Belief in God
ReplyDelete2. Being kind to others
3. Spreading Torah around to others
4. Learning Torah
5. Making Aliyah
Moving to Israel is on my list because I always had a special connection to it, even when I wasn't there. It was established as a Jewish state for a reason. I intend to fulfill this one day. No matter what I was doing there, it seemed special. Especially the historic cites touched me. People are trying to show the world that we don't belong there, we need to show them that we do. Israel is a special place for the Jewish people. we are going there anyway when mashiach comes (tomorrow) why not start?
Israel is not only special for me, it's a special place for all of עם ישראל. It gives a sense of hope. It is filled with the hopes and dreams of those before us. It was a safe place for the Jews. So, in my opinion, I think that moving to Israel is important because we need to fulfill the dreams of those who wanted to come so badly, but couldn't. That feeling that I have while I'm there is important to realize that many people want to go but can't. Eventually we will all end up there anyway.

3. charity
4. learning about your traditions
5. defending your people
I believe that you don't have to move to Israel. As a Jew, I do respect the country and fully support it, but that does not mean I would move there. Before the jewish state was established, there was still torah and tradition. Although, I do believe that us as a nation deserve a home. Even though I personally to not believe in the messiah or the scrolls, visiting this holy attraction site still gives me a sense of my background and where my people have come from. Overall, I do not believe that it is a sin to not have the desire to live in this Jewish state, but I do support it and going for a visit would not be harmful.
